Socio-Cultural Influences in Psycho

The film Psycho represents the movement of cinema during the 20th century. this film brought forth many new firsts according to behind the scenes footage and commentaries of people who had been involved in the making of Psycho. It has been said that Psycho had been the first to show lingerie or even show a toilet in a scene, more or less it being an important thing to move the plot forward. These were different from the American audience has been used to seeing because nothing like this has ever been done. And with the budget of a little bit below $1 million dollars, this was a very risky win or lose action by Hitchcock.



Hitchcock's Psycho has made the pathway for more movies of its type called "Slashers". Films that could fall in this place are Friday the 13th, Halloween and Nightmare on elm Street.
